IN SPITE OF / DESPITE / ALTHOUGH / THOUGH

 

 

 


 They all mean the same and indicate that something is surprising or unexpected. They are used differently though. Observe: ALTHOUGH / EVEN THOUGH + a CLAUSE (subject and verb) IN SPITE OF / DESPITE + a noun...
